Every case runs in the same five parts. The interviewer's words change; what a strong answer does in each part does not.
| Part | What the interviewer asks | What a strong answer does |
|---|---|---|
| 1. The prompt | The client and the question, then "Any questions before you start?" | Writes the decision down in your own words. |
| 2. Clarifying | Answers your questions | Confirms the decision, then asks only what changes the plan: the goal as a number and a date, what makes the client different, the money available. |
| 3. The framework | "How would you approach this?" | After a minute to structure: restates the question, names three or four areas in the client's terms, goes one level down in each, and says where to start and why. |
| 4. The analysis | Two or three questions: sizing, math, an exhibit or a brainstorm | Works each one out loud and ends it with a so what for the decision. |
| 5. The recommendation | "The CEO is joining in one minute. What do you recommend?" | The answer first, the two or three facts that decide it with their numbers, the main risk, a next step. |
